The number XIV represent their 14th studio album, in which a 38 career long, full of music, passion, tears, stories, wounds, emotions are translated into. The Roman number XIV remember one of their best and fortunate album called TOTO IV from the eighties. The actual band line up tried to stop timeline going back to those fantastic period. Thats why these amazing musicians gathered together in studio to finish the chapter never been written from TOTO IV, thinking about this new project as a B-side of TOTO IV but full with new influences learned during their long and glorious career. Lead vocals performed this time by Joseph Williams back with the band from 2010. From the new songs we can hear the style and influence of the seventh one one of Totos album really fortunate in the eighties. The other three official bandmate Steve Lukather, guitar, bass and vocals, David Paich keyboards and vocals, Steve Porcaro, keyboards and vocals speaks for theirself. Great musicians, arrangers, singers with many years in studio and on stage with hundreds of other great musicians from all over the world, playing everywhere from Europe, America, Asia, Africa, Australia. TOTO fans were waiting for an amazing comeback of Paich and Porcaro creativity and with this new masterpiece the two musicians didnt let us down. Another big comeback is David Hungate, historical bass player at the beginning of Toto career, maybe the best way to fill in the place of Mike Porcaro. He will play with the band even in the next Toto XIV world tour 2015. Drummer Keith Carlock from Steely Dan, already in the Japan tour 2014 is playing the drums. Keith is a really groovy drummer that fit perfectly with the rest of the band thanks to his great musicality and technique. The drummer for the tour will be Shannon Forest like in the north 2014 American tour, one of the best session man from Nashville, already drummer with Michael McDonald, Boz Scaggs, Donald Fagen, ecc. Other great comebacks are Lenny Castro at percussions and Tom Scott with Sax and Horns. These musicians represent best-friends of the band, already collaborating with Toto from historical albums in the eighties. In studio during the recording other bass players fill in to record like: Leland Sklar, Tal Wilkenfeld, TimLefebvre and Martin Tillman at Cello. Michael McDonald, Amy Keys, Mabvuto Carpenter, Jamie Savko, Amy Williams played background vocals. A special Mention goes to CJ Vanston, producer of the record and musician with the synths. The record will be a mix of rock, blues, funk, pop, jazz under the musical brand of Toto Style, synonymous of elegance, sophistication and technique. Amazing rock rhythmic, a couple of emotional ballads, great solo guitars, strong percussions, really precise arrangements, this is what the new album is all about.
