TOURS & SAFARIS Some of our predefined tours include: GORILLA TREKKING: An example of a typical trek is shown below: DAY 1: Arrive KGL, meet and greet by AA tours representative. Briefing and introduction to your driver safari guide, thereafter drive to Ruhengeri upon arrival check in Gorilla Nest lodge. Your accommodation for the next two nights is the Gorilla Nest Lodge, which offers comfortable rooms with en suite bathrooms, hot and cold water and a friendly atmosphere. The dining and bar area is open sided with a fire to welcome you on cool evenings. All guest rooms and the dining area have views of the volcanoes or overlook the beautiful valley and the hills beyond. Overnight: GORILLA NEST LODGE. (B, L, D) DAY 2: Gorilla trek, afternoon visit local population residing on the slopes of the volcanoes DAY 3: Optional 2nd Gorilla trek or visit golden Monkey, afternoon drive back to Kigali, on arrival check in Hotel Chez Lando Overnight: HOTEL CHEZ LANDO DAY 4: Transfer to airport to catch flight back home EXLORE RWANDA: An example of a typical tour is shown below: DAY 1: Arriving into Nairobi early morning we connect with a Kenya Airways flight to Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda, arriving around midday. After passing through the formalities of immigration and customs we will met by AA tours local guides and drive east for around three hours to Akagera National Park., we will check into the comfortable Akagera Game Lodge our base for the next 3-nights of the tour. The birdlife remains as abundant as ever and includes such species as Martial Eagle, Bateleur, Grey Kestrel, Blue-napped Mouse bird, Broad-billed Roller, Bennett’s Woodpecker, Blue-headed Coucal, Lesser and Greater Honey guides, Sulphur-breasted Bush shrike, Black Tit and Pin-tailed Whydah. Lesser Striped Swallows and Lilac-breasted Rollers will be among the birds in the grounds of our lodge, together with other East African species such as Red-cheeked Cordon-bleus, White-headed Black Chats, and the Red-faced Barbet,which are exclusive of the park and rift valley. 4 Nights: AKAGERA GAME LODGE DAY 5 : This morning we will have the chance of an early morning game drive from Akagera, before setting off after lunch to Kigali. Afternoon undertake city tour of Kigali, visiting Gisozi Memorial site. Overnight: HOTEL CHEZ LANDO DAY 6 : Today is largely a day of travel as we head south-west to the wonderful rainforest reserve of Nyungwe. As we leave Kigali, the small marsh on our right reveals the source of the Nile that eluded Livingstone. We will stop briefly in Nyanza to visit the traditional ancient palace of the Mwami (Rwandan king) before heading south to Butare, where we will take lunch.Thereafter we proceed to Nyungwe forest, on arrival check into Gisakura Guest House. Overnight: GISAKURA GUEST HOUSE DAY 7: The wildlife of the Nyungwe Forest is dramatically different to that of Akagera. Nyungwe is one of the last remaining substantial rainforest belts that once covered the extent of the Albertine Rift and the largest tract of montane forest left in Africa. As a consequence it is a hugely important area for both mammals and birds. An amazing 13 species of primate are found here, including Chimpanzee, Ruwenzori Colobus, and the stunning l’Houst’s Monkey. The reserve has recorded 29 of the 37 Albertine Rift endemics including the almost unknown Albertine Owlet, a bird we will make a special effort to see. Overnight: GISAKURA GUEST HOUSE MOUNTAIN CLIMBING: An example of a typical climb is shown below: DAY 1: Arrive KGL , city tour / Gisozi Memorial site Overnight: HOTEL CHEZ LANDO DAY 2: After breakfast, drive to Ruhengeri, afternoon do some community activities around Ruhengeri town. Overnight: GORILLA NEST LODGE. DAY 3: Hiking Mountain Karisimbi, (The hike will take 2 days to get to the summit) Overnight: TENT (inside the Virunga) DAY 4 : Get into the summit, thereafter descend the volcanoes Overnight: GORILLA NEST LODGE DAY 5 : After breakfast road transfer to catch afternoon flight.
