TPCFSN INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES The Presidents Council is currently seeking interns for the Spring/Summer sessions. PCFSN is seeking interns for both the general internship program as well as the Archives internship program. The Council reviews internship applications on a rolling basis. The general internship program provides the opportunity to gain experience working with both the Communications and Partnerships team to support tasks such as: facilitating the speakers request process, creating presentations and talking points, managing the President’s Council contacts database, supporting the partnership agreement process, and assisting the development and review of marketing collateral. Also, the intern will be involved in coordinating and executing events as well as tracking the media hits and activities of the Council members. In addition, the position requires a research project to be presented to the President’s Council staff at the conclusion of the internship. Please be advised that the President’s Council office is located in Rockville, MD, which is accessible via the Red Line on the Washington, D.C. metro system. The Archives internship provides meaningful experience for an intern to catalog historically significant resources of the Council and its storied leaders over the span of more than 50 years. Additionally, the position provides unique access to educational materials across the fields of fitness, sports, and nutrition, for submission to the National Archives and Presidential Libraries. Intern duties would include tasks such as researching PCFSN’s historic programs, initiatives, and publications; developing a system/database for categorizing and cataloging PCFSN historic materials; creating electronic versions of historic items; archiving historic materials; and, assisting with PCFSN records management. Intern may also work on facilitating the speakers request process, creating presentations and talking points, assisting the development and review of marketing collateral, coordinating and executing events, and drafting/responding to Council correspondence. PCFSN COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP AWARDS & LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS: The PCFSN Community Leadership Awards and Lifetime Achievement Awards are now open. The Council is accepting nominations through February 1, 2015. Community Leadership Awards The Presidents Council Community Leadership Award is given annually to no more than 50 individuals or organizations that provide or enhance opportunities to engage in sports, physical activity, fitness, or nutrition-related programs within a community. Nominations will be accepted through February 1, 2015. Eligible nominations will be reviewed and winners determined by the Presidents Council members. A list of previous Community Leadership Awards winner can be located on the PCFSN website here: Previous Community Leadership Award Winners Nominate someone online: wcdapps.hhs.gov/Fitness/Fitness/CommunityLeadershipAward Lifetime Achievement Awards The Presidents Council Lifetime Achievement Award is given annually to up to five individuals whose careers have greatly contributed to the advancement or promotion of physical activity, fitness, sports, or nutrition nationwide. Factors considered in the selection process include: span and scope of career; estimated number of lives individual has touched through his or her work; legacy of the individuals work; additional awards or honors received; and references. Nominations are reviewed and winners selected by Presidents Council members. Winners will be notified by April 1 by the Presidents Council. All individuals who submitted a nomination will be notified of the award decision by May 1. All award winners will be announced in May 2015, during National Physical Fitness and Sports Month.
