TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Due to forecast light freezing rain overnight, - TopicsExpress

TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Due to forecast light freezing rain overnight, there is a potential for ice accumulations up to one tenth inch, especially on elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses, for portions of the base community west of US-17, including portions of Craven, Duplin, Jones, Onslow and Pender counties and the cities of Richlands, Maysville, Pollocksville, Trenton and New Bern. Motorists should be prepared for the potential for slippery roads and limited visibilities during the morning commute Wednesday, Jan. 14. All personnel are reminded that speed limits are for pavement that’s clear and dry, and drivers should allow for additional room between vehicles since slick winter road conditions often result in longer stopping distances. In general, personnel should slow down for wet, snowy or icy conditions; when visibility is poor; or when conditions are changing or unpredictable especially on bridges, overpasses, off-ramps and shady spots. As a reminder, should a change to the current reporting schedule be required for MCIEAST-MCB Camp Lejeune personnel, we will publish a notice here on Facebook, record an update on the automated information system at (910) 451-1717, and communicate it to local news media outlets. Military and civilian personnel of tenant commands who have questions regarding specific reporting circumstances should contact their chain of command or work supervisor for instruction.
