Families & Criminal Justice presents Introduction to Working with Families Involved in the Criminal Justice System, a training for practitioners who provide services to parents, children and/or families. This Institute provides an overview of practice with families of prisoners, probationers and parolees. Topics include current research on these families, developmental concepts that inform effective practice, and an overview of interventions for supporting healthy development among children and developmental change among parents. Certificates of Completion are provided for participants who attend 6 hours of training. Date: October 13, 2014 Hours: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Location: The Center for Healthy Communities 1000 North Alameda Street Los Angeles, California 90012 Faculty: A practitioner, researcher and advocate for developmental, relationship-based approaches to practice, Dr. Denise Johnston is the author of more than 150 professional publications on families involved in the criminal justice system, including the book Children of Incarcerated Parents. She founded the Center for Children of Incarcerated Parents, which served more than 25,000 families of prisoners under her direction. Dr. Johnston is currently the director of Families & Criminal Justice.
