TRAINING WORKSHOP FOR CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS On 16 - 18 September 2014, twenty-five participants from civil society organizations took part in an EU-funded ‘Project Management’ training workshop conducted by punto.sud in collaboration with other partners such as CANGO and the Swaziland Coalition of Concerned Civic Organizations (SCCCO) and held at the George Hotel in Manzini. The workshop was the second of a series of capacity development activities planned to enhance capacities of Swazi civil society organisations in the framework of the EU funded action ‘Fostering Communication and Cooperation among NSAs for the benefit of Swazi civil society’ (FED/2012/307/510), implemented by COSPE in partnership with punto.sud. The aim of the workshop was to promote the efficient & effective project management practices among Swazi CSOs. A participatory approach was selected to deliver the key contents and to accompanying participants in a guided tour in the project management, and in the knowledge and application of the key tools. Lectures, exercises, group & individual working groups and role-plays involved participants throughout the workshop to learn the theoretical principles and to facilitate their enforcement in the participants’ everyday working life. The key topics dealt during the module included the concepts of efficient and effective project management, as well as all others involved when managing projects (partnerships, human resources management, procurement & storage services, financial management & internal controls, monitoring & reporting of activities and expenses, manage changes). After the training, follow-up activities will be implemented to facilitate the application of the workshop contents at organizational level. The next training workshop will take place at the beginning of December 2014 and it will be on ‘Access to EU funding’.
