Technical investigations based on statistics and trends •Maintained equipment/systems/plant •Maintain plans, manuals and documentation •Maintain optimised stock levels •Perform minor projects and replacement of railbound telecommunication/condition assessment systems •Technical reports •Effective supervision of sub-ordinates •Resource utilisation documents (e.g. time allocation sheets, logbooks, etc.) Qualifications & Experience : •National Diploma in Electronics/Light Current or previously employed as an Engineering Technician (Signals) after completion of applicable training •Networking experience (CCNA/A+/N+) will be an advantage •Signalling experience will be an advantage •Must be able to register as a Professional Engineering Technician with ECSA •Declared fit for duty (Height/Visual and Physical) •Be in possession of a (Code B) Driver’s Licence and be competent and prepared to drive such a vehicle •Physically fit •Work without supervision Competencies : KNOWLEDGE •Train operating systems rules and regulations •Basic project management •Maintenance management processes •Admin procedures (general and personnel) •Signalling, train control and railbound telecommunication systems •Cross-functional knowledge of the rail network infrastructure •Standards applicable to electrical/electronic engineering practice •Safety principles relevant to the signalling and railbound telecommunication environment / condition assessment systems and the application thereof SKILLS •Computer literacy •Communication •Technical report writing •Organised and structured •Proven ability to utilise signalling and railbound telecommunication plans •Analytical skills in order to gather, analyse and process relevant information to identify cause and effect relationships •Proven ability to perform maintenance activities (RPM/CPM/Breakdowns) on railbound telecommunication systems/ condition assessment systems •Must be able to register as a Professional Engineering Technician (Signals) with ECSA BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES •Safety orientated •Action/results orientated •Service orientated •Time conscious •Quality awareness
