TRANSPORT FARES WITHIN THE SCHOOL NOW PEGGED AT N20 PER DROP - Academic and Non- Academic Activities commence Today One thing I have vowed to protect and champion when I was contesting for the position of the President, Students Union Government of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka is Students welfare which hitherto has been lacking in this noble institution. When I assumed office, my first duty was to clear the debris which has constituted an eyesore at the entrance of the school through Ifite axis and has posed a great danger to the health of noble Zikites. I had contact the Anambra State Waste Management Agency to clear the waste before it creates more harm. After this I thought of the possibility of Zikites saving at least N20 daily from the money they spend on transportation within the school and thought it wise to slash the fare after consulting with the drivers. It is indeed a big decision and many may laugh at the workability of this but we have already put structures in place to not only make it work but to ensure its sustenance. This takes effect from today, Monday, 5th of January, 2015. We wont stop at this as this administration has highlighted several areas which affects students welfare and would immediately touch one after the other. I once again solicit for your support in making this government work and for us to revive this union and make it stand tall. I plead with my fellow students to be committed to our studies, be hardworking, make the best of your stay in this noble citadel of learning named after the great Zik of Africa. In our relationship with the drivers, lets show some respect as some of them are parents and it feels bad insulting ones parent. At the same time, the drivers should treat the students with respect cos without us , they wont be here. Let the respect be mutual. Plans are already set to kick start the PRESIDENTIAL MEDIA CHAT in our own UNIZIK 94.1fm. The programme which hopefully would commence next week would serve as a platform for the president to address the students as well as interact with them as it would be a phone-in programme. This measure is geared towards bringing the government closer to the people because without the people, the government is baseless. Meanwhile, academic activities will commence today, for those still at home, pack your bags down to school so you dont miss out. Thank You and God Bless. Long Live Nigeria, Long Live Anambra State, Long Live UNIZIK, Long Live our SUG, Comr. Noble Eyisi, President SUG, UNIZIK.
