TRIBUNAL UPDATE 12-11-14 ***Election documents tendered by Omisores lawyers reveal that Aregbesola clearly Won August 9 election As at the first adjournment of the Tribunal sitting today, all forms EC8A submitted in evidence by the Iyiola omisores counsels show that the first respondent Governor Rauf Aregbesola trounced the PDP candidate and was duly returned in the August 9 governorship election. It also revealed that agents of all political parties countersigned the result as witnessed by security operatives and other electoral officers in all poling units across the state. This development is contrary to the allegation in the Omisores petition that the form EC8AVP for the polling points as contained in his petition were not filled nor signed at the centers.Omisore lawyers today tendered the results of the voting points. For instance in Osogbo Local Government Area, forms EC8A for 85 polling units were tendered- all showing that Aregbesola pounced the petitioner Omisore. The implication of the extent of the hearing today, according to legal experts is that, when election results are tendered, it raises rebuttable presumption that the results are valid and legal and that the burden is on the person challenging the result- in this context Omisore- to establish that the results which were properly recorded and countersigned by all parties should not be relied upon by the tribunal.
