TRICARE Prime “One-Time Re-Enrollment” Rules Deadline is June - TopicsExpress

TRICARE Prime “One-Time Re-Enrollment” Rules Deadline is June 30, 2014 Passage of the 2014 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) provided beneficiaries shifted from TRICARE Prime to Standard on October 1, 2013 a “one-time” opportunity to continue in Prime, under certain conditions. To be eligible to make this one-time election to re-enroll in Prime, dis-enrolled beneficiaries must reside: • In a zip code that was a Prime Service Area (PSA) as of September 30, 2013, AND • Live within 100 miles of a military medical treatment facility. Eligible beneficiaries who were dis-enrolled will be receiving a letter advising them of their “one-time” enrollment option and the re-enrollment process. Letters will be mailed around April 28th and beneficiaries will have until June 30, 2014 to make their one-time election. Approximately 76,000 TRICARE beneficiaries will receive letters advising them of their eligibility to re-enroll effective October 1, 2013. To re-enroll, beneficiaries must submit an enrollment form, waive the drive time standards, and choose a Primary Care Manager (PCM) inside an existing PSA. The managed care contractor in the beneficiary’s region will assist with reviewing the available PCMs. Beneficiaries who choose not to re-enroll will not need to take any action since they have access to TRICARE Standard. Important Note: Applicants will be responsible for paying retroactive PRIME enrollment fees. Any claims processed during the retroactive period will be re-processed as TRICARE Prime claims.
