TRIPURA RAHASYA -37 Swami Nikhilananda Saraswati ~ Out of compassion for His disciple, Parasurama, who approached Him, Dattatreya Bhagavan revealed this knowledge to him. When Parasurama ji met Sri Rama Chandra ji, and was defeated by Sri Rama Chandra ji, he realized from the words of Rama Chandra ji, that what he had done was wrong. He felt very repentant that he had killed all those ksatriyas twenty one times. He felt his anger had made him do this terrible act, not sparing any of the ksatriyas or even their little children who were just born. He inherited the entire prithvi, or earth, and gave it to Kasyapa risi as a gift. When Rama Chandra ji broke the bow of Siva, he again became angry and wanted to kill Him. But Bhagavan made him realize that he was a brahmana and his main dharma was to do tapas, and bless the world. Not to create terror, by taking his parasu and haphazardly killing everyone without proper control over his weapon. In the Gita Bhagavan says, Ramah sastrabhritam aham, among those who wield a weapon, I am Rama, because He has total control over His weapon. Parasurama did not have any control. Then he was very disturbed by what he had done, What did I do? I did a very wrong thing in my anger. As he was going on his way, he met Samvarta risi, who revealed the knowledge to him, but he did not understand it. So Samvarta risi told him to go to his teacher, Dattatreya Bhagavan. So he went in search of Dattateya Bhagavan and he met Him on the mountain where He revealed this knowledge. Since it had come from the very depths of His Realisation, naitadavijnanasadrisam anyad manasamaruhet, it entered his heart. Nothing can enter the heart of people like this knowledge, coming out of the depth of Realisation. Otherwise it only remains at a superficial level, it doesn’t enter the heart. Therefore there is the importance of the teacher, otherwise we can read or think by our self. But for the knowledge to enter the depth required, we need the help of the teacher. Like if a person is sick, we give him the medicine intravenously, through his veins, He cannot drink it and absorb it directly. Similarly this knowledge has to enter the heart. Otherwise it goes in from one ear and goes out from the other. The words do not go deep within. When the words come from the mouth of a Realised Master, they have greater depth. Na eta vijnana sadrisam anyat manasamaruhet YathaSri Dattaguruna Bhargavaya nirupitam, as it was revealed by SriDatta Guru, an avatar of Bhagavan , as Guru, Guru roopa.
