TRISTAR UNDER 11s SUFFER FINAL DEFEAT FOR SECOND YEAR - TopicsExpress

TRISTAR UNDER 11s SUFFER FINAL DEFEAT FOR SECOND YEAR RUNNING Tristars Under 11 squad found themselves at the wrong end of another final result at this years Foyle Cup after losing 4-0 to Ballinamallard United, a result that makes the game look more one sided than it actually was. Tristar had their fair share of chances at 0-0 but didnt take them and they soon found themselves 2-0 down. But the boys got the heads up and were back in the game and had a great chance to turn the game on its head when they were awarded a penalty but football is a cruel game as they missed the penalty and Ballinamallard raced straight up the other end to score, the third goal killing off the game. However, lets not forget the week that was. Monday started with a 0-0 draw with Rosario, a decent start which was followed up on Tuesday by a 2-1 win over Killea Nixon Corner and a 4-0 defeat by a very good Peamount team from Dublin. Tristar knew that they needed at least one win on Wednesday to guarantee an automatic 1/2 final place and that was achieved with a 0-0 draw with St. Oliver Plunketts and a comprehensive 3-0 win over local rivals FC Corinthians. The 1/2 final against Limavady is a game that everyone remember for a long time to come. Limavady opened up very strong and shot into an early lead but Tristar fought back and should have equalised but it was Limavady that got a second goal and they looked stronger at this point. But Tristar managed to get a goal back on stroke of half time and that proved vital. Two goals in two minutes at start of second half swung the game in Tristars favour as they gained a 3-2 lead and with less than 5 minutes left, they killed the game off with a 4th goal. The final wasnt as one sided as the scoreline suggests but all in all this was another fantastic week for these young lads and another great experience in their young footballing lives. Well done to all Under 11 players, coaches, parents, supporters and anyone involved with the team, be proud of what you have achieved this week, Big Ugg would be so proud of you all.
