TROLLS ARE ALIVE By Anna Leah Every netizen should realize that he could be a victim of trolls, or mercenaries who promote disinformation campaigns to suit a certain agenda. They could be hecklers, bashers, haters, ranters, who disseminate messages of hatred and disdain - again to suit a certain agenda. Or they could be individuals, who masquerade as critics or online journalists just to spread half-truths or simply totally false news. They could be paid or unpaid. They are easy to spot though. They are usually one-sided as indicated by their posts. They never have balanced views. Oftentimes, they spread gossips. They are all fire and brimstone, too consumed by their anger to whoever becomes the fancy of their contempt and destructive instincts. They are discernible by their backgrounds. A number were former officials of the GMA administration; some are public relations people (PRs), or media fixers. Others are totally unknown; it is safe to assume that they could be pseudo-accounts of those trolls. They are easy to handle though. The first thing to do is to IDENTIFY them. Once they have been identified, the only recourse is to IGNORE them completely. Never comment on their posts. Never share their posts.
