TROOP C - NEWS RELEASE July 7, 2013 Single Vehicle Crash in Terrebonne Parish Claims the Life of a Gibson Woman Gibson, LA- Shortly after 6:30 this afternoon, a Gibson woman died when the vehicle she was driving lost control and struck a tree in Terrebonne Parish. The investigation revealed that a 2008 Chevrolet Colorado was traveling west on LA 182 just west of the Bayou Delight restaurant in Terrebonne Parish. The Colorado was being driven by Vickie Landry (W/F age 60) of Gibson, LA. As the Colorado traveled west, the vehicle entered a slight left curve in the roadway. Landry lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the right side of the roadway where the Colorado struck a tree and came to rest. Landry, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead on the scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office. Investigating Troopers report that impairment was not a factor in the crash, but routine toxicology tests are pending. This crash remains under investigation. While not all crashes are survivable, proper use of seat belts can greatly decrease an occupant’s chance of death and may greatly reduce the extent of injury. Louisiana law requires every vehicle occupant, front seat and back seat, to be properly restrained day or night. Taking the time to buckle up every trip and every time is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash. Motorists that witness hazardous situations are urged to call *LSP (*577) and report that activity to the Louisiana State Police. Contact Information: Tfc.
