At 8 am hst...The center of tropical storm iselle was located near latitude 19.4n...Longitude 157.3w...Or about 85 miles west of kailua-kona hawaii about 135 miles south-southeast of honolulu hawaii. Tropical storm iselle is moving west-northwest at 20 mph. Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph. .Situation overview... Tropical storm conditions persist from the big island to oahu as iselle continues to weaken west of the big island. Strong and gusty winds are holding over maui county and oahu...Though winds are gradually diminishing on the big island. Numerous wind gauges near terrain on maui county and oahu have been gusting around 60 mph...And the lanai city airport reported a sustained wind of 48 mph at 820 am. These winds will continue through the day and may spread to kauai this afternoon. Scattered power outages have been reported...And more are likely today. Heavy flooding rainfall will continue today...With the greatest amount of showers falling across windward and southeast slopes. Windward big island and the kau district received the brunt of the heavy rainfall overnight...With many gauges measuring 5 to 9 inches of rain...And a few topping 14 inches. These heavy showers will continue over the saturated slopes of eastern kau and windward big island through at least the remainder of the morning. In addition...Fast- moving heavy showers over maui county and oahu are pushing westward under a strong easterly flow. These showers will spread to kauai before noon.
