TROPICAL WEATHER ADVISORY 12 January 2014, 10.45 PM PST Active Disturbance 92W continues to intensify as it moves through the warm Pacific waters. It was last spotted at 280 nautical miles SSE of Guam (8.8°N, 145.7°E). Minimum Sea Level Pressure: 1002 hPa Maximum Sustained Winds: 24 to 33 km/h (10-minute average) Meteorological Conditions With warm sea surface temperature (in excess of 30 deg C) and NE vertical wind shear (10-30 kt), intensification into a significant tropical cyclone is favored, though not rapid. Numerical Weather Predictions Data suggest that AD 92W will take a generally WNW heading for the next 120 hours. Ensemble models suggests intensification into a significant tropical system within the next 48 hours (with MSLP dropping to 997-998 hPa). Stay tuned for further updates.
