TRUE STORY: Last year I was on a ZR. Some tourists were tryna find The Good Life. I was friendly with them on the bus, and one of them spoke French and we spoke some Franglish. I got off with them to walk them to the Good Life and conversation came around to what I do. Contacts were exchanged. I emailed them to say I hoped they were enjoying their stay and nice to meet them, Happy New Year. Added the French tourist on FB. She directed me to some artists in Guadeloupe. I hit up each one, one by one, in French. Some of them responded. From there we spoke Franglish back and forth till I had befriended a community of Hip Hop artists and singers from Guadeloupe. The connection is getting stronger and the moral of the story is: a) Be kind. b) Pay attention in your language classes.
