TRUST and OBEY-HUMBLE YOURSELF, HAVE MERCY AND FORGIVE A charge from King David as he nears death to his son Solomon: 1 Kings 2:3 3 And keep the charge of the Lord your God: to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commandments, His judgments, and His testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn. Before King David officially passed the throne over to his son Solomon, Adonijah (Solomon’s older brother) took it upon himself to exalt himself saying that he would be King. He threw a party with slain oxen, fattened cattle, sheep and drink. He would later be riddled with fear of his life but King Solomon forgave him as Adonijah humbled himself and he was let into the house. Here we see a perfect example of when we pride ourselves up we usually find ourselves being taken down a notch in the presence of our Lord God. He is to be lifted up NOT us! We also see a brokenness which leads to humility (Adonijah), Mercy and how we shall Forgive those that make mistakes being overtaken by pride and those who do us wrong in any way. The story later concludes that Adonijah, Solomon’s older brother still thought he should be King and his pride later found him being put to death by Solomon as his pride blinded him and he tried to scam his way into a position through a marriage to King David’s beautiful nurse by way of Bathsheba. Adonija placed more importance on his earthly treasure and entitlement and was blinded by this. He compromised his obedience to The Lord God in Heaven and he in turn LOST. So to all of us; 19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6: 19-21 As it is believed that King Solomon wrote the Proverbs, we can see that King David’s charge to his son Solomon came through to Solomon in so many verses within the book of Proverbs. The verse below is closely related to the charge King David gave to Solomon as he near his last days. So today and everyday; 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. 8 It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones. 9 Honor the Lord with your possessions, And with the first-fruits of all your increase. Proverbs 3:5-9 Have a blessed day and maintain a True Course towards the Lord Jesus Christ.
