TRUTH STANDS ON ITS OWN. Probably most American Christians - TopicsExpress

TRUTH STANDS ON ITS OWN. Probably most American Christians would not enjoy our Sunday worship service or our Wednesday night Bible study. I am not even referring to my doctrinal stance (which admittedly is radical, by todays standards), or my oratorical/homiletical skills (which often get lost in the telling of the message). I am referring to our ultra informal services (which may seem very un-churchy). It can be disorienting for the person who is use to high powered, slick programs, and worship leaders. Plus we are very small, and meet in my living room (not by choice at this point). Our small numbers allow much of the informality and hominess, and my interaction with the children (as they ask me to define the words I use and explain concepts I am addressing). Most people would feel that they are not even in church. They would feel like they had not been to worship because of our style (or lack of style). However, if they can get past the style issue, they may find nuggets of truth that will transform their lives. If they are living in the power of Gods anointing, rather than depending on the worship leaders anointing (or ability to manipulate the masses) they could be carried to the depths of humble resignation and the heights of joyful exaltation, and sent out in fiery evangelization. They may find themselves more enamored with God than with a glitter; more focused on the Blessor than on the blessing; more Divinely enlightened than deceptively elated. There is nothing wrong with style or with different styles. Style can facilitate a service. But we should never allow style or servants to obscure our view of the Savior.
