TSSOM CRUISE UPDATE: June 3, 2014 Location: N 36 39.6 W 008 51.6 Course: 290 Speed 14.1 kt Weather: Partly Cloudy Wind: NW 20 kt Seas: Mod NW Swell Back in the Atlantic we are seeing higher winds and a bit more motion but overall the weather is clear. Charlie engineers had their exam this evening and will now begin final preparations for their flashlight exams. The 2/C deck students are continuing to work on their celestial navigation requirements, taking morning and evening star sights and working through the sight reductions in the navigation lab. The 4/C of Charlie got to experience what it is like to navigate your way out of a confined space when it is filled with smoke. The simulation was set up by putting them in full turn-out gear and blindfolding them before they crawl around the 5 deck, following the bulkhead to keep from getting lost. The 2/C were used as safety observers to prevent any collisions or pile-ups. Alpha continued to work on the macerator pump but it looks like Bravo will take that job over after the holiday routine tomorrow.
