TUES MIXED NETBALL - first up, apologies to those who missed the wrap up last week. James did write one in my absence but alas, technology malfunctioned on me and it was lost...but to tonights games and as so often is the case, the best match was saved till last. it was Power Rangers v Hawks and dont these teams match up well! Close for the the first 3 qtrs but Hawks managed to just keep their opponents at arms lengths and then ran away with it in the last. Perhaps they were inspired by their wounded warrior, Lauren Mather rising from a nasty spill to continue on and get the job done? Either way, she had a top game as did Kayla Shephard for PR. A big night out also for The Wesley Crushers, registering their first win for the season after a shaky start. They got the better of The CLW All stars this week with Kaye Boxer leading the way for them showing versatility at both ends of the court. For TCLWAS, I thought David Cecil played a pretty handy sort of a game on the wings, running hard and presenting himself as an option at unexpected time - nice work! Bobdogs v The Fellowship had numerous friendly rivalries going on around the court and whilst TF were slow starters, they put up a good show in the second half. Nonetheless, B dont often give second chances and that was the case tonight. A convincing win to B with Tara Rattus impressing for them as did Matt Westley for TF. Jess Ward & the Lilli Pads played 1 of their strongest games to date, collecting another win this week. They had some strong opponents too in Balls Up, but JWTLP looked pretty comfortable tonight, a pretty large bench of fresh legs didnt hurt their chances either! Standouts this week, James Lee for JWTLP and Kane Pyle for BU. Bubbles are fast making their mark on the comp, 1 of only 2 teams not to drop a match to date and becoming 1 of those teams that their opponents dread playing. Tonight, Wyld Stallyns were their victims and they looked untroubled throughout. Amy Norsworthy had a top night for B, and Josh Fish Mitchell was the best for his herd. And to the other undefeated crew, The Flying Lemurs continued on their merry way, also having giving us a dominant display of mixed netball this week. The Richard Dean Andersons struggled against their seasoned competitors but did go down swinging, Sophie Trabilsie in particular worked hard. For TFL, Keith Jarrett made a welcome return from retirement and had a good game but best for them was Steph Horwood who had 1 out of the bag. See you next week!
