TUESDAY 10/15/13 – I went for my second Plasmapheresis at 9:30am. It was a little more demanding than last night’s. After 2 hours I could feel my blood pulsating as it was recycled through my body during this 3 hour procedure. Patti was there by my side rubbing my feet and legs. When I got back to my room around 1pm Jesse Morro was waiting to see me. I was in no condition to see anyone. I was shivering and empty of energy. He and Patti had a conversation about how he had gone through some medical issues and how he dealt with his hospitalization. Listening to him share woke me up. I am not alone in this and I am not the first person to deal with something like this. I sat up and thanked him for being here and proceeded to eat my lunch. The food and company rejuvenated me but I knew I needed to rest if I was to deal with Physical Therapy today. Unfortunately, Steve Cooper and Lance (GB friends) showed up and sucked the little energy I had right out of me. I had to get them to leave. The Physical Therapist showed up at 5pm and had me do some simple bed exercises that would help give my left leg some control. He had me walk up and down the hallway using a walker and noticed improved strength and control immediately. I was very pleased with myself until Shawn Henson, Linda, Bully and Ian all turned the corner to my hallway. I do not think of myself as flawless but I do not like people to see me when I am weak. I should have thrown them all out but the PT was almost over. We sat and talked about how I am determined to get out of here walking. This will not beat me. Tomorrow is a new day. I requested that the Physical Therapy be in the morning and the Plasmapheresis in the afternoon so that I have all my energy when I am working on walking again.
