TUESDAY DEVOTION TO ST. ANTHONY OF PADUA On Friday June 13 1231, in the afternoon, St. Anthony, then in his thirties, passed away. Scarce had he breathed his last when crowds of children ran through the steeets of Padua, crying: The Saint is dead! At the same time he appeared to his venerable friend, the Abbot of Vercell; and said to him with a smile. I have left my luggage at Padua. I am on my way home. The Abbot was suffering from a severe throat complaint; St. Anthony touched it, and the evil was permanently removed. The funeral took place on the Tuesday after his death, June 17th, and was of the most imposing description. The blind, the deaf, the paralytic implored the aid of the wonder-worker, and all those who touched his coffin were at once delivered from their infirmities. St. Anthony, Wonder Worker of Padua, Pray for us!
