TUESDAY, JULY 29, 2014: READ Psalm 29 I have noticed a lot this summer our sky being lit up by strong lightening and ominous clouds. It has literally stopped me in my tracks and taken my breath away. The lightening, I feel, has been dangerously sharp and the thunder has shaken my whole house. However, there have been moments where God has stepped in and said, “YOU ARE PROTECTED!” I may not always be protected in nature’s events, but I am ALWAYS PROTECTED by God’s promises and love. How and where were these promises shown to me? In God’s canvas the sky! The word ominous, like the ominous clouds I keep seeing, is defined as “being or exhibiting an omen (sign or warning): portentous (unpleasant warning); especially: foreboding or foreshadowing evil.” (Merriam-Webster Online) That can be some scary stuff! However, as the two pictures show, God’s light shines right through these evil storms. The sun and a rainbow are such great promises. John 8:12 says, “Jesus spoke to the people again, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me won’t walk in darkness but will have the light of life.’” (CEB) Jesus as “the light of the world” overcame the world, and we too can shine that very light and hold onto that promise! Light ALWAYS overcomes darkness. Last Thursday night, after a strong thunderstorm, there was a full rainbow. It practically went over the whole city. It was absolutely beautiful! It reminded me of Gods promises located in Genesis, “God continued, ‘This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and everything living around you and everyone living after you. I’m putting my rainbow in the clouds, a sign of the covenant between me and the Earth. From now on, when I form a cloud over the Earth and the rainbow appears in the cloud, I’ll remember my covenant between me and you and everything living, that never again will floodwaters destroy all life. When the rainbow appears in the cloud, I’ll see it and remember the eternal covenant between God and everything living, every last living creature on Earth.’” Genesis 9:12-16 (Message) God is our Protector! God is here with us each and every moment! We will have storms in our life, but like David’s promise ending Psalm 29:11, “The Lord gives STRENGTH to his people; the Lord BLESSES his people with PEACE.” Times may be tough, but hold on to this promise! Carry this verse around with you if necessary! Do NOT allow the enemy to help you forget Gods promises of PROTECTION! PEACE BE WITH YOU TODAY! ~Kristen Tucker kristentucker
