TUESDAY LUNCH TIME UPDATE Labrador Snow Continues Labrador and the Island couldnt feel further apart when it comes to the weather today. Labrador City is now looking at 63 cm since Sunday evening and a total of 73 cm (as of 12pm local) including Sundays Snowfall! If my math is correct, then as of Noon local... HV-GB is at 21 cm Makkovik is at 16 cm Cartwright 8 cm Snow and blowing snow continues today in Labrador with the winds picking up through the day. Another 10-20 cm looks set for inland areas this afternoon & tonight with gusts 50-60 km/h continues for inland areas. Along the Coast 15-25 cm looks set today, with another 5-10+ cm tonight, winds will really start to gust late this afternoon, this evening and tonight with gusts in the 90-110 km/h range from Nain to Postville & Makkovik. Winds slowly ease through Wednesday morning as the snow tapers off. Newfoundland Cools Down Temperatures were quite nice over the Eastern half of the Island this morning, especially on the Avalon. The 3 hotspots I could find were... St. Marys: 9.1° Argentia: 8.6° CBS: 8.7° More highs attached. Temps have already started to slide and well see temperatures back to 0° by Supper time tonight. Chance of showers this afternoon (with a taste of Sunshine as well) mixes to a chance of flurries later this afternoon & evening across Central & Eastern Newfoundland. Western Newfoundland is already starting to see some onshore flurries and those will continue with a few snow squalls looking likely to fire up as well with 2-5 cm locally this afternoon & again overnight. Southwest winds 50-70 km/h, will ease to 40-60 km/h overnight. Wednesday & Beyond Our storm finally kicks out of Labrador through the day on Wednesday with some lingering flurries clearing into the afternoon. A chance flurries on the Island for Wednesday morning, over Central & Eastern Newfoundland with Sunshine in the mix through the day. In the West, Squalls ease to just some onshore flurries through Wednesday afternoon. The Long Range looks active on the Island, with a Storm on the way for Thursday night/Friday, which looks set to bringing mostly snow & wind, followed by another Storm for Sunday which looks like a stronger one with lots of wind. Based on the current projections, this one could be a rain maker for much of the Island. Stay tuned.
