TUESDAY, OCTOBER 22 ON THE TBS: The relationship between legislators and constituents is far from cordial and creeping into being better described as “bitter”. In recent times, some legislators have been booed, insulted, openly challenged by some members of their constituency and in some instances Constituency Meetings have been disrupted. Why are some constituents angry with their lawmakers? Who is responsible for this wave of “disrespect for elected officers” in our Country? Has representation turned “misrepresentation”? Two legislators have consented to talk about the subject: Matenorkay Tingban (Nimba) and Gabriel Smith (Grand Bassa). (2) Over the weekend, chiefs and elders from Liberia and La Cote d’Ivoire gathered in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County to talk peace-building and stabilization in the region. The peace initiative convened over hundred and fifty traditional leaders and Government officials from both Countries including Presidents Sirleaf and Allassan Dramane Ouattara. At the close of the week-long Joint Council of Chiefs and Elders Meeting (JCCEM), a communiqué was signed and read by Internal Affairs Minister Morris Dukuly. Minister Dukuly has agreed to talk about the peace-initiative: he will be our guest. THE MOTHERLAND WILL NEVER FALL. TRUST ME; LIBERIA IS GETTING BETTER. WE WILL NEVER COMPROMISE OUR DUTY TO MAKE THE MOTHERLAND WORK.
