TUESDAY OF ORDINARY TIME WEEK 1 (Heb 2:5-12/Ps 8/Mk - TopicsExpress

TUESDAY OF ORDINARY TIME WEEK 1 (Heb 2:5-12/Ps 8/Mk 1:21-28) Life is very interesting. Human beings are wonderful creatures. We tend to listen less or never. We ignore many experiences because we fail to listen. The Gospel presents an interesting deliverance session of Jesus. Let me warn that we should not make the devil a communicating director of Jesus. Every tree is to be judged by its fruits. Mark makes an interesting presentation in the Gospel. Jesus performs an act so unique among the people. This does not bring the people to him. The witnesses do not become believers but gossipers, spreading his fame everywhere. The contrast is the admission of Jesus true identity by the evil spirit. This is quite strange: non-possess people do not discover the presence of God when unbelievers easily discover him and tremble. Why must the author of the Letter to the Hebrews take the pains to defend the Divine nature of Jesus to his own generation and fellow believers? They have all experienced or heard about Jesus but could not admit his nature as God. An author had to write to convince them. In our world, things that should lead us to God are treated with contempt by Christians. We doubt miracles and malign prophets. (We must not accept everything, though. But we must not be skeptics in all situations). Some of us question anything spiritual as if Christianity is now a sophisticated social club. We call ourselves believers but fail to recognize the Divine in the situations of life. We are as blind as the Jews of old. May God heal our spiritual blindness so that we will recognize him in the events of life.
