TULOY ANG BANGE!!! What a beautiful expression adopted by the Reject RPT20 Movement. Batangueñong-batangueño (thanks to Ferdie Guevarra who first and repeated used this line in his fb comments)- a call to action… a constant reminder for all of us to remain steadfast in our commitment to concerted action. BANGEHAN SA PLAZA MABINI. This is a “get-together”… a gathering of members of the Reject Movement and all those who sympathize with the group, which we hold every Friday morning at the Plaza Mabini. Participants are supposed to come in red shirt as a symbol of our protest to the injustices and oppressions being committed to us by our very own government. Bangehan is one of our actions in pursuit of truth, action in search of our rights, action in expression of our basic freedoms. Started four weeks ago, this symbolism has formed a habit among the citizen of Batangas City, to wear red clothes or shirt every Friday. Now, this symbolism, this habit, has spread all over the world where there are Batangueños. The Batangueños in foreign land, especially our OFWs, perform their respective symbolic act and expression of being one with us by wearing red on fridays( you can see these in their fb posts). My friends, the aim of Bangehan is not to harm those who curtail our rights and freedoms, but to tell them they are wrong in so doing. In proclaiming the truth, we may well suffer. But this non-violent action means receiving the suffering, in order to reach out to the humanity of the person, our leaders, who are causing our suffering and causing us injustice. If you appreciate this act of love and sacrifice, join us. Let us from here on be ready to suffer in the pursuit of justice, in the building up of a just society.
