TULSA – A man accused of abusing his child has been arrested. According to Tulsa police, Sebastian Aguirre, 22, has been arrested on complaint of abusing and causing the death of his six-week-old child at his home located at the University of Tulsa at 4th and Harvard. According to the affidavit filed Sept 15, Aguirre shook his infant son until the point of death on September 11. The official document says the infant was taken to St. Francis Childrens Hospital where he was found to have sustained a severe brain injury as well as retinal hemorrhages. Dr. Baxter concluded the incident as a result of child abuse. “This is simply a matter of a parent not being able to cope with the difficultly of having a child,” said Detective Michael Brown, Tulsa Child Crisis Unit. The affidavit goes on to say that Aguirre admitted on Sept. 12 to shaking his son after he would not stop crying, then placing him in cold water in an attempt to wake him. Detectives say the mother of the child was attending class during the incident, she currently is facing no charges.
