TURNING MEN INTO BOYS - Sure the name “Titicaca” can turn grown men into giggling little boys, but this famed lake is one the highlights of our Peru hiking holiday. Of course, Machu Picchu is the big draw on this trip, but Lake Titicaca also leaves a lasting impression. It’s the highest navigable body of the water in the world and, according to legend, it was the birthplace of civilization and that the sun, moon and stars rose from the lake to shed light on a dark world. We’ll explore life on 3 of the lake’s islands – some man-made and some natural. The islands are home to Quechua and Aymara Indians, and although they have different traditions, life remains starkly traditional for all of them.
