TV: Hans Backe (former assistant coach in Manchester City and head coach for New York Red Bulls) talks about the recent meeting with Manchester City player John Guidetti. Reporter #1: - Everybody is wondering about John Guidetti, what’s going on? Hans Backe: - We managed to get a brief chat with John Guidetti - and it’s a man with great confidence. there is no doubt about it. He’s a real character. He’s got a truly amazing confidence. After being in first team training for two weeks now he is back at full capacity. He was actually a bit disappointed as he nearly, but didn’t, get to play 45 minutes in the Cup match (Newcastle United vs. MCFC, 30 October 2013). He said that he was ready to play the match, also fitness wise, but disappointed not being picked for it. We also watched a (MCFC) training session with the team. So physically, he is pretty ok by now. We also had a talk with Håkan Ericson (Sweden Manager U-21) about this training session. The (Swedish) U-21 team is opting to “gamble”, since he has been performing so well for them it makes it is definitely worth taking a chance with him and give him 30-40 minutes in the U-21 World Cup Qualifier vs Greece (15 November 2013). Reporter #1: - What is now the most likely scenario? Hans Backe: - That the club will organize a loan for Guidetti in January. I mean, if you look at the current list of (MCFC) forwards, it’s a nearly impossible situation for John, maybe he will get a couple in the FA Cup, to get selected, coming on of the bench and play. I don’t think he’ll get a starting line up with the players like, Aguero, Negredo, Jovetic, Dzeco, and a believe I can find a fifth player as well. Reporter #2: - Nasri and Silva. Hans Backe: - Yes, they can also fit into that position at some point. It is my opinion that Chelsea and Manchester City have the by far strongest squads up front (in Premier League). Reporter #2: - Yaya Touré also fits in a central attacking role. Hans Backe: - I mean, just watching a regular training session (at MCFC), with world class players warming up and seeing them playing a normal square exercise. It’s special. They perform this exercise on volley and the ball is practically doesn’t touch the ground. They are that good and of such a high quality. Reporter #1: - But he seemed hopeful, Guidetti? Hans Backe: - Absolutely! It’s interesting: I talked to the phys coach and members of the rehab team, that said that he has such an enormous will power to make it back (to first team football). They actually said it, straight out, that no other player would have made it back after the types of injury problems that John has had. They were extremely impressed! Then there is also that he (John), often walks into the room and starts rapping… it is a happy guy. Reporter #1: - There’s some classic clips on YouTube where he (John) does a crazy dance etc. He’s a real funny guy as well. Hans Backe: - Yes, he is clearly prolific - that’s a fact. But! He is back in action!! That’s for sure! And also very hopeful: Keeping the big dream alive about the possibility that if Sweden qualifies for the World Cup (in Brazil 2014) vs Potugal and hes healthy, fully aware of that he must be in another strong club by January (2014) in order to get playing time needed.
