TV REVIEW – Supernatural: Season 1 Supernatural is a compelling paranormal thriller that presents a unique, stylistic vision. Taking a realistic and gritty approach to the paranormal, the show explores ghosts, demons, vampires, curses, and other phenomenon. Season 1 follows two brothers, Sam and Dean Winchester, who team up to look for their father after he goes missing while hunting the demon that killed their mother; and along their journey they help people who are being preyed upon by supernatural creatures. While the show follows a basic monster-of-the-week format, it does a good job at staying character centric and at keeping the focus on the relationship between the brothers. Additionally, an impressive list of guest stars, that include Sarah Shahi, Adrianne Palicki, Amy Acker, Julie Benz, William B. Davis, and Nicki Aycox, appear throughout the season. The show also features a classic rock soundtrack that compliments the tone of the series exceptionally well. Season 1 of Supernatural is exciting and chilling, setting up a strong foundation for the series.
