TV was rubbish the day I was born (Babes in the Wood on ice?), so I tried radio: the Home Service as it then was. Unfortunately that was pretty dire too (worthy and educational; cant decide if a Stravinsky concert is worse than Bridge on the Air - yes, the card game! - or not). But the highlight was this: 17.00: CHILDRENS HOUR The Lost Reindeer * A Christmas fantasy by Betty Davies with music by Alan Paul Orchestra conducted by Max Saunders Production by Josephine Plummer When you find a baby reindeer who has hurt his foot outside your house on a snowy winters night, the only thing to do is to take him in and look after him. This is just what John, the charcoal burners son, did - but he had no idea that his action would help him later on when he found himself in a tight spot. Aww. This is a good time-wasting device.
