[TW: Suicide] Last night, news broke that Leelah Alcorn, a young trans woman from Ohio completed suicide due to pressure & rejection from her parents among other things. This is a tragic story, but one that does not exist in isolation. Stories like Leelahs reflect the larger suffering in the trans community, and suicidality is indeed prevalent. Remember Leelah Alcorn, and remember what led to her death. And challenge the prejudice that you see in your life that may lead to the death of others. Because, as it stands, one in two young trans people will attempt suicide at least once. Just think about that. #RIPLeelah
