*TW* The Body of Christ lacks an understanding/proper teaching about deliverance. There are two common misunderstandings - one: everything is a demon (sickness, mental illnesses, DID, etc.) which is very untrue and an unhealthy teaching. Two: demons cannot reside in Christians. Many people use the verse light cannot reside with darkness to represent that people cannot have demons if they are saved, but this verse is specifically talking about being yoked together with unbelievers - has nothing to do with demons. If you are going to quote a scripture, use it in context. A person is three parts - body, soul, and spirit - and although our spirits are saved, demons can and do reside in the soul realm. One must be very kind to a person when they are getting deliverance; unless you have dealt with demons, you have no understanding how hard the demons attack the person from the inside. They actually cause the helpless human host to feel sick and be in agony. Do not be harsh and yell at demons. In fact, the greatest way to eradicate demons is to pray/sing in tongues and speak truth over the person - this weakens the demons - then, command them to leave in Jesus Name. If a demon does not leave, you should ask if there are any alternate personalities in there. If a person has DID (especially if they do not know about it), they will oftentimes have the demons attached to their personalities. Be VERY gentle with the alters because they are apart of the persons mind and soul and are not, in themselves, demons. Just a singleton (somebody who does not have DID) can have demons attached to them, so can somebody who has DID. This does NOT mean an alter is a demon. Somebody with DID has been through enough trauma and abuse already, thats how the alters got there in the first place. If you find that a spirit is not leaving a person/their alters, you will need to ask the person if there were any marriage covenants between them, satan, and any false gods (including but not limited to babylonian, greek, roman, indian, etc.) false gods. This usually occurs during ritualistic abuse of a sort. Please do not attempt to minister to a person unless you truly understand these things, as it can cause you more harm and especially, cause the person more harm than good. Remember, we wrestle not against false and blood but against powers, principalities, and spiritual rulers. If a person is acting out - AND they are not triggered or upset about something - it is probably a demon - but always ask Jesus before. He will give you complete discernment.
