TWENTY YEARS ON, THE ANC STILL DELIVERS……. Now lately we have been seeing open letters in the mainstream and social media of frustrated individuals who are in the cold. We have been silent because we are not moved with these insults as they have no substance. The African National Congress is 101 years old, it has been through storms, but it is still content. Many have broken away from us and where are they now? They wish they can come back, but pride is taking them aback. We remain committed on our five priorities, which is quality health care to our people; fighting corruption and crime; free education; sustainable jobs and to fight poverty. Others are saying that they are intellectuals and know better than the policy creators of this country. Whereas they forget that many countries depend on our policies. Gramsci gave much thought to the question of the role of intellectuals in society. He stated that all men are intellectuals in that all have intellectual and rational faculties, but not all men have the social function of intellectuals. The African National Congress has dedicated 2013 as the year of the cadre. We are building cadres for this movement that will defend this movement like OR Tambo, Nelson Mandela, Alfred Nzo, Walter Sisulu and many activists of this movement. A cadre is someone of ideological and administrative discipline, who knows and practices Democratic Centralism and who knows how to evaluate the contradictions in our current methods in order to make the best out of them. Comrades on the ground must defend this movement and evaluate our current situation. We are facing elections and we know that every power mongering individual is going to evolve and want to contest the elections where they will be embarrassed by the overwhelming victory of the ANC once again. Others when they were in the ANC were singing the song that outside of the ANC is cold, now today they have left and are insulting elders and our leaders and they think that they will emerge. We all know that they are corrupt and are fraudsters and they are using our vulnerable youth to support them. Our people have faith in the ANC as this movement has delivered them from white oppression and will definitely deliver them from poverty as the ANC does not embrace poverty. Twenty years on, and the ANC is still changing lives and it won’t stop until all our people are sorted out. This movement’s priority is to serve our communities and hooligans are the ones that are hampering with the plans of the ANC. Once again, we remain committed to a genuine call for the nationalisation and socialisation not only of mines, but of all country’s strategic resources and services including service delivery. No one can just come and claim our strategies and want to preach it to our people knowing that they just are the wrong representatives and think that our people will buy their stories. We have just launched the Luthuli volunteer corps in four regions, and the last region will be the John Taolo Gaetsewe region on the 28th of July, we have seen during the launches that our volunteers are ready to bring a victorious 70% in 2014. We urge the communities to continue to have faith in the ANC as it is the only movement for them. End. By: Keitumetse Mathiba From: ANC Peter Mayibuye Branch
