TWO HISTORICAL EXAMPLES OF CHRISTS COMING: in both cases God - TopicsExpress

TWO HISTORICAL EXAMPLES OF CHRISTS COMING: in both cases God forewarns His people Christ likens His coming to the days of Noah: Matthew 24: 37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Answer this question: did Noah know when the flood would come? The answer is yes he did. Noah knew the exact day the flood would come. How did Noah know? God told him: Genesis 7: 1 And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation. 4 For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; Yet seven days and the flood would come. Not too hard to figure out from that statement. Noah was forewarned by God of the very day of the flood. Genesis 7: 10 And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth. Jesus also likens His coming to the days of Lot: Luke 17: 28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; 29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. 30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. Now lets ask the question: did Lot know anything about timing of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah? The Bible indicates that he did have advance warning of Sodoms destruction: Genesis 19: 12 And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bringthem out of this place: 13 For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it. Jesus gives two historical examples to teach about His coming at the end of the world; and in both cases God forewarns His people prior to the time of destruction. We are not surprised by this because God has set forth a biblical principle that He carefully follows, and that is the principle that He will not bring a judgment to pass without letting His people know of it: Amos 3: 7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. So yes we have read the plain statements regarding no man knowing the day or hour; and we have not simply taken them at their surface meaning; but we have looked much deeper into those statements and all of the rest of the Bibles pertinent information concerning time and judgment. The question for you and others is: have you simply accepted statements regarding no man knows, without doing further study into all the Bible has to say on the matter? If so, that is spiritually sloppy Bible study. And it is no wonder that you fail to properly understand the Scriptures on this point.
