TWO TYPES OF VICTIMS: Existential and Trauma Derived You - TopicsExpress

TWO TYPES OF VICTIMS: Existential and Trauma Derived You probably met the first type... nothing ever goes right for them. The weather is either too cold or too hot. They never feel quite well and the whole world is against them. I call these victims existential victims. They were born at the wrong time, in the wrong place, with the wrong parents... and nothing will ever be right for them. This description may be extreme... but you know what I am talking about. The glass is always half empty. On the other hand, you probably also met upbeat successful people who became victims of a crime or of abuse... or who went to war. They were happy, enjoying life, work and family. Then, they were battered, assaulted, were faced with devastating news, suffered a gigantic loss or went to war. If helpless situations become cumulative and last a long time without time for recovery between events, chronic post traumatic stress may set in. Chronic post traumatic stress is another beast altogether. It is VERY challenging to pull out of. It is even more difficult when you are surrounded by friends and family who used to know you as a joyful person. Come on, pull out of it... You cannot let that ruin the rest of your life... get a hold of yourself... Easier said than done. According to Dr. Ryke Geerd Hamer, a German oncologist who studied the effects of trauma on some 33,000 people, something similar to a short circuit happens in the brain circuitry during a trauma. Imagine what happens during cumulative traumatic events... months of helplessness... We are now dealing with a short-circuited brain, a non-apparent brain injury. If the individual had a car accident and suffered a brain injury, people would more likely be sympathetic, understand and mostly would be helpful. Not so with people suffering from a non-apparent brain injury. Too little is known about it and the general public certainly does not understand it. The individual ends up isolating him or herself, as he or she feels like an alien on the planet. Few therapists, psychologists or psychiatrists have been trained in dealing with cumulative trauma or chronic PTSD. Wars, domestic violence, legal abuse... these situations are a fertile ground for breeding victims of chronic PTSD, even among the strongest people. Lets show compassion and work together to turn trauma into triumph.
