TWO young men died in a car crash along the Sigatoka Valley highway yesterday taking the Western Division road death toll to 19 for the year 2014. Police West media liaison officer Naina Ragigia said the two, in their 20s, were on their way back from Bilalevu. They were on their way back to Sigatoka Town when the driver, 20, lost control of the car, Ms Ragigia said. According to our initial reports, the car then flipped over and hit a tree. She said the fatal accident occurred near the Agriculture Research Station along the Sigatoka Valley. They were both pronounced dead on arrival. Police Traffic Control Unit director Senior Superintendent of Police Mahesh Mishra said investigations into the fatal accident had begun. At this point in time, we are still trying to determine how the accident occurred, he said. We have a report of a fatal accident and that two people died in the accident. Well know more once when we gather more information and when the post-mortem examination has been conducted. The national road death toll now stands at 35 compared with 24 for the same period last year.
