TWR Companion Planting--here is the best case of what we try to establish in each of our garden beds: A Deep rooted perennial or Biennial for nutrient mining and holding fungal hyphae in the bed through the seasons Pollinator/beneficial insect attracting plants (Basils, Borage, Bee Balm) Canopy Plant (Corn, Okra, Tomato, Tall Brassicas in winter, Pole Beans or Peas) Understory Plants (eggplant, basil, peppers,Asian greens, etc. Typically on sunnier side of bed.) Forest Floor plants (squash, pumpkin, cucumber, melon, sweet potato, small lettuces, spinach, etc.—on less sunny side) Legume for N fixation (peas, beans, edamame, alfalfa or clover). Have you planned your Fall Garden yet?
