TYRANT // THE BEGIN TYRAN(T) Tyran(t) wants to be the first application for smart devices casting high quality visually stunning short-interactive documentaries. It will focus on a single theme for each issue. It will stand up between other iPad magazines as the first mono-thematic-mono-content-docu-app-zine focusing on social issues all around the globe out of the logic of simple-documenting - rather into the feeling of inspiring, not to explain or teach rather to question and disobey. it will not replicate a world, it will creates many. --------------------------------------------------------- TYRAN(T) #1 / KOSAL KIEV The first issue of Tyran(t) will be about Kosal Kiev (spokenkosal/), cambodian poet who has spent 16 years in the U.S jails after moving from a Thailandese refugee camp during the time of Pol Pot dictatorship in Cambodia and, indeed, settling with his family in the States, where eventually he grows up and get into a gang-related case for murder attempt. During his staying in the U.S prison, Kosal Kiev starts to be interested in slam poetry, and begin composing verses about his story and about the ones of his jail mates. After his release, U.S law system deports him back to Cambodia, where actually he has never lived, where he couldn’t talk the local language and where he has no friends, neither family. Kosal is now a well-know poet, he has represented Cambodia at the London Olympic Poetry game in 2012, and hes a TEDx fellow. Tyran(t) decides to release its first issue about him. --------------------------------------------------------- INTERACTIVE FORMAT The first issue of Tyran(t) will challenge the viewer and ask him to compose musical beats to be put under Kosals spoken words performances. Through a very user-friendly interface, the viewer will be able to combines libraries of sounds and to create musical bases for Kosals performances, eventually sharing them online via social network, thus making them publicly available and indeed voted in the frame of a public contest where people themselves will select the most wild and strong ones. The idea is that of releasing the first music album composed by crowd-made music bases. The beats and Kosal verses will be eventually performed in few clubs around the world during music festivals and art events, where the beats-maker will be invited to perform on stage together with Kosal.
