Tahoe 200: Part Two Iris and Kerri pulled into the Tahoe City aid - TopicsExpress

Tahoe 200: Part Two Iris and Kerri pulled into the Tahoe City aid station late Monday afternoon. After a one hour nap Iris ate and packed up and we headed out into the dusk. The additional miles seemed to transform Iris, no longer quiet and moody, she was back to her usual cheerful and talkative self as we moved rapidly back up up up and then down down down miles 170-187, talking about life and stuff and listened to some U2. Apart from smacking her tender toes on rocks a few times (loud screams), it was a great stretch and we arrived at the chilly Rideout AS where we slept for an hour until leaving for the home stretch at 3:30 AM. We moved rapidly thru 5 miles of flattishness before she inexplicably slowed to a crawl for the sixth mile of flat. Then the dirt OHV road began climbing VERY steeply which naturally, after 193 miles, revived her and I struggled to keep up throughout the four mile climb. Go figure! Then a quick steep 5 mile descent (no stubbed toes!) and a 94:32 (sub four days!) finish, good for eleventh place woman.
