Tahoe A Glow Airglow (also called nightglow) is the very weak emission of light by a planetary atmosphere. In the case of Earths atmosphere, this optical phenomenon causes the night sky never to be completely dark, even after the effects of starlight and diffused sunlight from the far side are removed. Last night was one of the strongest Airglows I have seen. The way it seemed to be streaking across the atmosphere strongly resembled an Aurora Borealis storm. After capturing the 9 frames needed to take this entire scene in I checked with the Aurora forecast and it confirmed that there was not a storm and that this was indeed Airglow.
