Taib becomes ‘Tun’ for protection! Will Taib’s latest ‘honour’ the title of ‘Tun’ give him some kind of legal protection against corruption charges? He says that legally Taib is vulnerable, but his friends in high places are likely to protect him until the people change the government. He states that this exhibition is a message to state government so that they will take note on how to protect the rights of indigenous people of Baram. Lastly, RFS report on special news over in Papua New Guinea, where the National Court has declared two timber leases held by Malaysia-based Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad (KLK) null and void, and ordered the government to cancel the licenses to convert nearly 40,000 hectares of rainforest and community forest for oil palm plantations, reports the Rainforest Action Network (RAN).
