Taiwan should be proud of having created a climate in which local businesses are able to thrive, but keeping things local also limits the potential of Taiwanese entrepreneurs to create globally relevant products and services, and in turn limits Taiwans influence in the global economy. Many local startups wish to overcome these limitations by hiring foreign talents that are knowledgeable about foreign markets, but run into strict employment restrictions that prevent them from hiring qualified non-Taiwanese. Taiwanese employers who wish to extend their reach internationally should be able to hire the staff they need to create the greatest impact in their target markets.
