Taiwanese Government Make LED Bulb Tests Mandatory Starting July 2014 A bureau under Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs announced Tuesday, LED bulbs in the country will be required to undergo mandatory tests starting next month, according to a CNA report. According to MOEA’s Bureau of Standards, Metrology & Inspection, starting on July 1, 2014, LED bulbs manufactured in Taiwan will be fined a minimum of NT $0.2 million (US $6,669.33) and no more than NT $2 million, if is proven product sold has not been tested. Manufacturers that acquire related product manufacturing documents prior to June 30, 2014 are not subject to the new testing measures implemented in July, and will be allowed to continue product sales, said the bureau. The ministry attributed mislabeling and confusing labels in the LED industry as the main reason behind the new measures to protect consumer rights.
