Taiwo Abojumeji Tajudeen Posted This; Another Saraki Exclusive! Don’t Take Credit For My Ministerial Appointment – Bolaji Abdullahi To Bukola The political camp of former Governor of Kwara State now a Senator in Nigeria Upper Legislative Chamber, Senator Bukola Saraki appears to be disintegrating fast as more perceived loyal members of the group are rising against the leadership style of the ex- Governor. The latest person to rebel against the Bukola Saraki hegemony was the Minister of Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi who served as a commissioner in the two term tenure of the Senator as Governor of Kwara State. Thegazellenews. com investigation revealed exclusively that Abdullahi has decided to distance himself from the Saraki political camp for its perceived antagonism towards President Goodluck Jonathan administration. It would be recalled that the Saraki camp is in support of the Rotimi Amaechi faction of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) as Bukola’s protege and current Governor of Kwara State, AbdulFatai Ahmed voted for Amaechi against the wish of the President and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the NGF election. Thegazellenews. com learnt that Abdullahi has been telling members of the Bukola Saraki camp that their leader should not take credit for his ministerial appoinment. According to him, the credit should rather go to his former employer and This Day newspaper publisher, Nduka Obaigbena, who used his closeness to the Jonathan family to ensure that Abdullahi scaled through the screening and was eventually picked among the three nominees from Kwara State. “It is true that Saraki nominated me but he never really wanted me to be picked. He only nominated me to satisfy all righteousness but he preferred somebody else to be picked. It took the grace of Allah and efforts of my former boss, Nduka Obaigbena for me to scale through eventually. So he should not take credit for my appointment. I’m doing this to set the record straight,” Abdullahi was quoted as telling some members of the Saraki group at a meeting. The news apparently jolted members of the group and for close to ten minutes silence reigned supreme at the meeting. It was a bombshell from a person perceived as one of the most loyal and committed member of the Saraki political camp. Bolaji was first appointed a Special Adviser in the first half of the debut tenure of Bukola before being upgraded to the position of a commissioner. Throughout the second tenure of the former Governor, he was the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology. So many believed that it was Bukola at work when his name appeared on ministerial nominees and he was eventually picked. Therefore, the statement coming from him was a knock out blow for Bukola’s supporters and entire members of the group. In a related development, the Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, Professor AbdurRaheem Oba, has also rubbished the claim that Bukola was responsible for his being re-appointed the chairman of the commission. According to the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, the ex-Governor of Kwara State was hell bent on him not being re-appointed but President Jonathan through the efforts of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, for his re-appointment to see the light of the day. As the political structure of Senator Bukola Saraki appears to be fallen apart, political analysts believed more revelation on the activities of the camp will be exposed soon from more disgruntled members.
