Take a bow! The kindness shown by you over this festive season Gave me lots of ideas, it gave me a reason To put pen to paper, to try yet more rhyming And thank some local people for their seasonal timing. A deeds a deed so well applaud & quite rightly The Community side to little old Voice for Whiteley To James Ross who dashed to the dame in distress Whod issued the Christmas Day AA SOS Whod done the Christmas shopping for her little girls or boys But shed forgotten the Duracells to power their toys And with Coop and Tesco out of the question She took to V4W to ask for suggestions. Our second Samaritan who did something good Was Platinum Plumbings very own Matthew Hood Who came to the rescue, had tricks up his sleeve When some neighbours tap snapped off late on Christmas Eve With this last minute help to stop their house from flooding They were able to enjoy a bone-dry Christmas pudding The third mention for performing a Christmas Eve feat Goes to Sky-dish fixing Jamie, down at Sat-Elite My Skys broke, can you help me, though its late so I doubt it I cant watch the Christmas special of Downton without it? But before their NO SIGNAL screen drove them even madder Jamie came to the rescue with his wires and big ladder. Hero 4, more a collective one, it has to be said When we asked who knew when Santa flew overhead Our kids were waiting, oblivious, and in sheer fascination When they got to see orbits of the International Space Station Thats Santa up there our excited kids told (Thank you too to the NATS guys for not making him hold!) To Julie Cranston, our local furry quadruped helper For her bedding donations to the animal shelter A shout out too for Guardian Angels and to Happy Paws For helping the poor dog who didnt like being kept outdoors And to the good folk who found a lost feline, all soggy Prince Joey, Whiteleys now infamous wandering moggy To Fix-It Bev Smith, when our brains we had wracked To reinstate smiley faces when kids iPads had cracked Thanks too Jackie Maffin, the list ever-growing For raising charity cash with her Beaver-badge sewing And Matthew West for the Carols at The Solent Hotel Whose efforts raised much charity money as well. We even found time to find a stolen Land Rover But this lists not exhaustive, good deeds never over With some community spirit and some positive thinking The only whining this week was the stuff wed been drinking. (Oh, of course, except for one girl whod got pretty narked When she got issued a ticket for being over-parked) So with the turkey all gone and the hangovers clear Thanks for a Christmas of goodwill, now have a Happy New Year!
