Take a minute to read this please, Im so proud of my Son Oliver for writing it. Hello all, my name is Oliver. Im a professional firefighter in Shreveport, Louisiana, on the Shreveport Fire Department. My father is a retired Chief of Training on our department and who served over 28 years. In the late 80s my father lost a brother fireman and close friend Captain Percy Johnson, while battling a commercial cold storage fire. In tribute to Capt. Percy Johnson, my father and mother wrote a ballad, titled The Badge a tribute to firemen and the fire service. A tribute to the men and women who protect and preserve life and property. My fathers song has been used by many departments and the IAFF (international association of firefighters), for memorials in the USA. In the aftermath of September 11, 2001, The Badge began to take on greater meaning not only to those of us in the fire service, but the world, and has since been used as an anthem by countries such as Canada to remember those who served and those who sacrificed there lives while serving. As we approach the 13th anniversary of that horrific day, we want to remember those that gave it all to save lives. We want to remember those who have since sacrificed there lives to save a life or property, we want to remember there families, there legacies! We want to honor those that continue to answer the call and wear The badge. Chief Brian Hollins who is now a full time pastor in Shreveport, Louisiana has made The Badge available thru this link: gofundme/nfffshreve The website and all proceeds of The Badge are being donated to The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. Please visit the page at the link provided above. This foundation provides support for the families and children of fallen firefighters. For donating you will receive a mp3 download of The Badge. Please share with everyone you know. Please Donate! We honor the fallen and our brothers and sisters in the fire service by continuing to support causes like this one! Thank You and God Bless Oliver
