There are several people who factually dispute many of her claims, but note how she responds to them. One of her absolute statements: “No entity of professional athletics promotes CrossFit.” is disputed by the fact that NFL players are advised to use CrossFit. However her response to that is simply I doubt seriously you had NFL players joining in on the daily WOD with everyone else. Another posting noted that the CrossFit games athletes are very strong and fit, and again her response has essentially the same ignorant and biased approach as her article: If you just followed the WODs, the random, high intensity aspect of CF would not lend itself to progress. Many of these guys that you are referring to write programming to get them lifting those higher weights. That specialized programming is NOT Crossfit. The idea of functional movements at high intensity is not new, nor is it uniquely CrossFit. The military, especially U.S. Special Operations Forces (SEALs, Rangers, Green Berets) have been using this type of training for decades (in fact it was a Special Forces Sergeant who encouraged me to start it). There are too many success stories with CrossFit to dismiss as an unsafe or ineffective method. Do your research, try it out, and then decide for yourself whether this type of training is for you, dont rely on an obviously biased article to make that decision for you.
